“To weave a continuous ribbon of human motion running through a landscape of curated sculpture, stitching the diverse parts of Greenwich Peninsula together into a world class cultural destination.”

- Ralph Parker RIBA

The ‘P5K’ architectural form draws on the movement of the human body in motion and is based on the invisible shapes drawn in air by the movement of a runner’s feet. A sequence of graceful arcs twist and intertwine to form the principle structure; four in total - one for each heel and toe. The form is visually complex but repeated/mirrored and staggered where the left and right feet alternate, creating economies without sacrificing visual appeal. The rhythm of the running motion translates directly to the configurations of the track, where the supports meet the ground at each ‘foot fall’ of the underlying motion. For example in the causeway configuration every step is a pile cap foundation to support the deck as it skips across the water, spanning from one ‘foot’ to the next.
