“Combining superb engineering with design flair, The Flame in Paddington Basin has quickly achieved iconic status in digital-out-of-home. This hyper complex structure was designed in-house and required precision design and build engineering. ”

- Wildstone Build

The Totem is formed from 17 ‘fingers’ of structure – triangular in cross section - which spread around the advertising screen, and coalesce into a whole at the midpoint of the construction to form the base.Broadly - for the triangular cross-sectional elements - an arc-based geometry was used to allow for areas of planar construction, and attached surfaces which employ conical forms, that can be created from flat templates with minimal distortion. The lower section of the Totem is formed by the continuation of these surfaces to become a clad steel frame which would act structurally with the outer surface to form a stressed skin.
